Big Walk Red Tower & Map Room: All 5 Puzzles + Key Cutters Solution

Last updated Aug 7, 2026 Tested

The Red Tower is the upside-down-cone mountain in the red region that guards Big Walk’s most useful early unlock: the Map Room. Complete five co-op puzzles, feed their red pieces into the tower’s control panel, file the golden key at five cutters, and the Map Room door opens — giving your group the island map, compass and laser pointers, and earning the Big View trophy.

First: unlock the Crosswalk Red Bridge

Before anything else, the group must open the red drawbridge on the red stairs to the left. After changing your character’s colour with the Paintbrush, head to the beach and find the machine with four yellow buttons and four empty object slots — a Golden Key sits inside. The four gourd collectibles that go into the slots come from four puzzle sections (a confetti burst marks each completion). Once all four are placed, the machine gives up the key, which unlocks the bridge.

The four gourd puzzles

#PuzzleWhereWhat you do
1Sealed Container (Cave puzzle)the container is tucked inside the rock/beach areaPress the button on the container to activate it, then use the telescope on the map’s right side to spot the glowing container and mark its position; one player stays to keep the container active while the other runs over and grabs the gourd
2Tall Steel Structure (Mechanical Arm puzzle)at the bottom of the starting pathClimb/stack onto the L-shaped mechanical structure and reach the switch on top to release the gourd
3Blue Houseto the left of the starting areaOne player stays inside the blue house watching the black tile patterns; they read each pattern aloud, the outside player places the matching order on the panel, and a confetti burst signals the gourd is released
4Green Platformthe green structure/platform areaFind the switches spread around the structure and activate all of them at the same time — possible with two players (count to three and press together), easier with four

After the machine hands over the key, cross the red bridge and continue to the gym.

Reach the Red Tower

  1. Find the gym — a gym area with whiteboards that introduce radio stations. Explore it, then take the path directly opposite the gym, which leads uphill.
  2. Climb the tower — the Red Tower looks like an upside-down cone (roughly 3670, 1400 on the map grid). Climb to the top to find a terminal with a key, similar to the starting area. It asks for five items to release the key.
  3. Look toward the shoreline from the tower top: you can see all the puzzle locations you need to reach and solve.

The five Red Tower puzzles

The terminal accepts red pieces from any completed co-op puzzles — the five below are the closest convenient set (locations from community playtesting, August 2026). If your group has already solved challenges elsewhere, check the Red Tower panel before repeating anything.

#PuzzleApprox. coordinateWhat you do
1Silent Room (a.k.a. Green Button Room)3760, 1430Signal the correct buttons through soundproof glass
2Beach Maze (a.k.a. Yellow Maze)3840, 1350Pass a timer between two separated paths
3Basketball Hoop (a.k.a. Basketball Court)3830, 1560Throw lanterns through the hoop until the meter fills
4Cannon Timer (a.k.a. Train Station Timer Cannon)3880, 1520Fire, catch, return and insert the timer before it expires
5Mountain Overlook Gestureoverlook near the tower topOne player watches platforms through telescopes, relays the gesture, the runner places the matching card and performs it

Other red-piece sources also feed the panel — e.g. the Heavy Ball at 3740, 1620 (hand a ball player-to-player like a bucket brigade). The panel is not tied to one exact set; check it before repeating puzzles your group already solved.

Puzzle 1 — Silent Room (3760, 1430)

Green building near the bottom of the path leading away from the Red Tower. Inside is a glass room with a semicircular panel; five buttons are mounted outside the glass.

  1. One player enters the glass room — the door locks behind them.
  2. Watch the semicircular panel until one stone lights up.
  3. The player inside points toward the matching button.
  4. A player outside presses that button.
  5. Repeat until the black progress display is full.

Glass blocks normal communication, so pointing is the safest method. Agree on a left-to-right numbering system (one to five) before the inside player closes the door.

Puzzle 2 — Beach Maze (3840, 1350)

Two players split onto separated paths and must pass a timer between them before it expires. Keep the timer moving hand-to-hand at the meeting points; the maze layout forces a rhythm rather than a race.

Puzzle 3 — Basketball Hoop (3830, 1560)

Throw lanterns through the hoop to fill a meter. One player gathers/passes lanterns while another shoots — the meter fills faster with two dedicated roles.

Puzzle 4 — Cannon Timer (3880, 1520)

At the train station area: fire the cannon, catch the timer, return it, and insert it before it expires. Coordination matters more than speed — call the catch before firing.

Puzzle 5 — Mountain Overlook Gesture

One player stays on the overlook point and watches five different platforms in the distance through the telescopes. The other player heads to each platform; the watcher relays the correct gesture, the runner places the matching gesture card into the rack, then performs the gesture with the button combos shown — e.g. left arm up, right arm up, crouch. Walkie-talkies and binoculars help a lot here.

The golden key route: five cutters

  1. Insert all five red pieces into the Red Tower control panel and take the golden key that comes out.
  2. Head downstairs and insert the key into the small slot right in front of the Red Tower entrance — this starts shaving/filing the key.
  3. File the key four more times; all the shaving/filing contraptions are lined up on the pathway leading down the mountain, each marked with arrows showing the order.
  4. Follow the arrows to the Map Room door at roughly 3560, 1425 and insert the finished key.

Inside the Map Room

The Map Room is the blue tunnel building with the long red staircase (don’t confuse it with the Blue Tower further up). The table to the right of the entrance holds the portable map, a compass and three laser pointers — see Where to Find a Map & Compass for how they work and how to read 4-digit grid coordinates.

Big View trophy

Unlocking the Map Room and visiting the map earns the Big View trophy (Gold, “Visit the map”) on the PS5 list — full list in the trophy guide.

Puzzle names, coordinates and steps compiled from PixelTwelve’s Map Room guide and Gamerant’s Red Tower walkthrough (both August 2026), cross-checked against this wiki’s Map Room location guide. We’ll update this page if House House patches the puzzle set.
